Dakota Dunes Open Round 1

The 7300 yard Dakota Dunes Golf Links was burned today by the scotching play of PGA Tour Canada players. With little wind and accessible pin placements, every hole could be birdied. I had a terrible warm up session on the range prior to the round and set out to build some momentum and gain confidence. I came to the 18th hole (my 9th) at -2 for the day and had been steadily building positive energy. After losing a ball on the par 5 on an approach shot, I found myself with a long green side bunker shot for par. My bunker play lately has been incredible and I really believed I had a chance of holing it. I hit a perfect shot into the center of the cup and the grandstands erupted! That was the highlight of the day. I gave myself some great opportunities on my back 9 (the front 9) and a bad break on my second to last hole led to a double bogey. I finished with -2, 70 and believe I left at least 3 strokes on the course today. Looking forward to picking them back up tomorrow morning and moving into contention, one swing at a time.
