The Golfslinger.com Tour hosted a “Major” at Abacoa Golf Course in Jupiter, FL over the past two days with the winner taking home a cool $10,000. I’ve been battling a couple minor injuries in the past two weeks and my shotmaking has deteriorated. I was determined to find a golf swing that kept me in contention during the two day event. Halfway through the first round, one of my playing partners and fellow competitors (who went on to finish 4th) told me my swing tempo was incredible and I was “making it look easy.” While some overly aggressive decisions and inconsistent putting led to too many unnecessary bogeys this week, I clearly made some great strides with my golf swing. It’s reassuring to know I’m making progress after a couple challenging weeks.
I shot 71-72 (-1) on the 7200 yard, par 72 course to finish t-12. -7 went on to win the golf tournament. I uncharacteristically played the par 5s at even par for the two days. With a more routine set of scores on the par 5s, I would have likely been in contention.
With some short game work and improved decision making, I’ll be in a great position to take on the US Open qualifier in the coming weeks.
